Description
The forum seeks to give youths a more wholesome picture of climate change and how Singapore is or will be affected by it. Prevention measures, youth activism, and climate change policy will all be discussed in the forum. From there, individuals will be encouraged to think about how they can contribute in their own way to climate change mitigation efforts; and what kind of trade-offs they are willing to give up in their current lifestyle to make this work.
Background of issue
In light of the recent scientific efforts to bring environmental problems and their far-reaching effects to the forefront of public consciousness, governments all around the world have been refocusing on environmental policies. There is increased pressure for tertiary institutions to develop an environmental studies programme (as our own NUS has done recently), hoping to bring in more bright minds to help solve these large-scale problems. Furthermore youth environmental activism is advancing to an unprecedented degree, as when more youth delegates are brought into international caucuses like the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (UN CSD) and Rio+20. In light of all this international pressure, how does Singapore stand up in terms of both local and international efforts?

I am one of the participants from Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) on Global Environmental Issues. I have 2 questions
1. Is Singapore going to have R&D on Ocean Energy?
2. Job opportunities in Singapore for environmental studies student (local and International)
